Shield of Faith

A journal of my family's battle with cancer. On December 15th, 2006 I was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. In the spring of 2008, we found evidence the cancer has advanced to stage IV.
I am 38 years old and live in Tucson, Arizona.

Fear vs. Faith

I believe that if it were not for my faith I would be a wreck right now. There is comfort in knowing that God is sovereign and I pray everyday that God invests me in His plan.

One of the more difficult things so far has been discussing all of the complications and things that can go wrong with the surgeon. Knowing that God is in control is very important and I tell myself I can accept everything the doctor tells me as long as he doesn't say that God doesn't know what He is doing.

In medicine we are concerned about the fight with the specific biological functions of the cancer disease, however, as a believer I am compelled to see a deeper story. There is a spiritual battle at work. I believe the most effective weapon of the enemy right now is fear, and the best defense I have is faith.
