Stand Your Ground!

One of the things the surgeon told me is that I probably do not comprehend what I am about to face. That is most certainly true. It reminds me of a scene from the Return of the King movie during the siege of Gondor. The orcs and trolls were about to break through the front gate of the city of Minas Tirith with the mighty battering ram. The men of Gondor were on the other side waiting for them to break through. They could hear the orcs and trolls through the gate and they probably had a vague idea of what was about to happen and they knew that it would be terrible. That is kind of like how I feel.

Fortunately, Gandalf was there to inspire the men. He shouted to them "You are soldiers of Gondor! No matter what comes through that gate, you will stand your ground!"

I tell myself this often. No matter what comes through that gate, I will stand my ground.
