The preliminary report from the PET scan confirms what we already believed. The good news is that there is no evidence that the cancer has any distal spread, which means it hasn't moved to any other organs such as the liver or the lungs. There is, however, strong evidence that the lymph node nearest the tumor in the colon is malignant, which is what we expected.I also got a blood test today and we should have the results back from that in a couple of days. I am getting an endoscopic ultrasound tomorrow at UMC to take a closer look at the localized spread of the tumor around the colon.
We also scheduled an appointment with Dr. Beart at USC in Los Angeles. He is a highly regarded colon surgeon and we are going to consult him to make sure we are on the right track. I am scheduled to see him on Tuesday next week (the 9th) and I am scheduled to see my oncologist on Thursday the same week (the 11th). I am hopeful that I can begin radiation and chemotherapy treatments the week of the 15th.
